Hunterston Estate comprises of aprox 770 acres of land but only 260 acres are outrightly owned by the Hunter family that being 40 acres as shown in white around the castle and 220 acres shown in yellow around Goldenberry and Campbelton Hills.
The rest of the land is owned through compulsory purchased by the various industrial companies that surround the castle but through arrangements Hunterston Estate is allowed to farm this area.
In 2012 even more land was compulsory bought by the power companies, the area is purple is the latest part of land lost at Hunterston.
